Wentworth Institute of Technology has selected Abigail rainor, a junior in the construction management program, as winner of Dacon’s Founders Scholarship honoring company founders Richard Kuchinsky, Dennis Leahy, Ron Gagnon and Patricia Canelli. This scholarship is awarded to a full-time undergraduate student focused in construction management or a related field with good academic standing.  Preference is given to Eagle Scouts or GoldStar Girl Scouts and the applicant may renew the scholarship in subsequent years of enrollment.  

A native of Rye, New Hampshire, Abigail knew since the age of 3 that she wanted a career in construction.  She selected Wentworth’s program in construction management as their curriculum provides an inclusive learning experience whereby they prepare the student through co-ops and courses immersed in construction management practices. Enrolling after early acceptance, Abigail’s time is balanced between maintaining Dean’s List with a 3.8 GPA, VP of the Construction Management Club, women’s networking events ,student mentorship and hosting on-campus trade events.  Abigail’s future academic plans include a Juris Doctorate in Construction Law.  An entrepreneurial spirit, her vision includes owning a commercial development contracting company balanced with volunteerism rebuilding impoverished areas affected by natural disasters “When Dacon began this scholarship in 2014, we sought individuals demonstrating a strength of character in personal integrity, self-discipline and a desire for a career within this industry,” says Kevin Quinn, Dacon’s CEO.  “Abigail’s leadership is remarkable, and we couldn’t be more delighted in the university’s selection of her.  It is a pleasure for us to know that we contributed to her academic career.  We foresee a bright future ahead for her.”

Wentworth Institute of Technology has 19 majors and22 minors.  This year, 219 students won scholarships to assist with achieving their academic goals.  Within the 2020 "U.S. News & World Report" Wentworth ranked #21for Most Innovative Schools and #32 for Best Engineering Programs.  The curriculum includes a Bachelor of Science (B.S. Arch) with concentrations in Adaptive Interventions, Emerging Technologies and Urbanism. Additionally, the Bachelor of Science in Construction (B.S. Construction) focuses on creative problem solving and innovation.
