Dacon Corporation and VMD Companies gathered to celebrate a significant construction milestone with a ceremonial cross beam signing, marking the continued progress of indus Headquarters. The event brought together project stakeholders, design and construction teams, community partners, and guests to recognize the collaboration, innovation, and craftsmanship driving the development forward.
The signed structural beam, now permanently incorporated into the building, symbolizes the teamwork and shared commitment that have guided the project from concept through construction.
“From our founding in 1957, indus (formerly Sealcoating Inc.) has taken pride in being able to solve problems, explore new ideas, and take on unfamiliar opportunities ourselves. Finding the right area, building a new facility, and creating our new home has been in the works for years, and we knew we had to nail it for the whole indus family. Early in the process, we realized we'd need to team up with the best of the best to get the results we dreamed of from this venture. We felt that with proper preparation and extensive vetting, we would find the dream team to partner with. As soon as we met with the teams from VMD and Dacon, we knew we were shaking the right hands. In the construction industry, the very first and most important thing you build is a meaningful relationship with the people involved in a project. As soon as we walked out of the introduction meeting, we realized we shared the same passion for people and projects, which gave us peace of mind and excitement for the future. Dacon and VMD’s vision of our new home was perfectly in line with ours from the start; the communication and inclusion in all aspects of the job are exactly what we were hoping for and needed in a partnership, and everything that they have delivered has been done with honesty, integrity, and a team-first mentality. We couldn’t have asked for better partners on this project that starts the next chapter for indus. The96,500 square-foot indus headquarters is being developed to support the company’s relocation and expansion from Braintree to Middleborough, bringing its operations together in a purpose-built facility. The building will include office space for approximately 50 employees, training rooms, locker room facilities, warehouse storage for building materials, and dedicated space for complex machinery maintenance and painting, anchored by a 14-bay maintenance and repair shop which will accommodate the oversized trucks and equipment essential to indus’s pavement repair operations. The project also required significant site preparation, as the site was a decommissioned cranberry bog. Extensive earthwork was required to bring the site to grade, and dynamic soil compaction was used to address the organic soils and achieve the bearing requirements necessary for construction.

The project demonstrates the value of an integrated design-build approach in addressing complex site and operational requirements. Precast concrete panels were selected for the exterior building envelope, combining structural and architectural elements into a single prefabricated system that allowed for efficient assembly. Through close collaboration among Dacon’s design and engineering teams, architectural and structural partners, and the project team, potential conflicts were identified and addressed early in the process, helping support a coordinated path from design through construction.

In recognition of the milestone, Dacon, indus and VMD Companies also presented a $12,500 donation through Dacon’s Designed with Dignity community giving program to Hannah B.G. Shaw Home, supporting its mission to provide compassionate care and services for individuals and families in need.
The contribution reflects Dacon’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the communities where it builds and investing in organizations making a meaningful local impact.
With structural work continuing to advance, the project team remains focused on safely delivering the next phase of construction while maintaining the quality, schedule, and collaborative approach that have defined the project.
